All-stakeholders Voting To Postpone The SC Election Till June 2021
Since the initial announcement of the 2nd VeChain Foundation Steering Committee Election, the Foundation team has been receiving nominations and well-intentioned contacts across the globe from various industries. In the meantime, the Foundation nomination committee has been assessing eligible candidates and proactively searching for industry leaders and other prominent persons of intention to join the committee election.
From the very beginning of designing the governance model, the Foundation realizes the importance of having a diverse and functional Board of Steering Committee. It is also the Foundation’s responsibility and obligation to ensure the selection process runs smoothly. The goal of having a quality selection of potential candidates also serves as the overarching aim of the 2nd Term Steering Committee election. Once the nominated candidates are elected democratically by the VeChain ecosystem stakeholders and community, the new Board of Steering Committee will serve to represent all stakeholders in the VeChain ecosystem, facilitating the efficiency of decision making and ensuring the fairness and effectiveness of the execution on all fundamental matters regarding the ecosystem.
As the world grapples with the COVID-19, the pandemic now negatively affects and disrupts social and economic activity worldwide. We are seeing a large reduction in business meetings and the implementation of strict travel and border restrictions across the world. Unfortunately, with most of our nominees and candidates located in different countries and subjected to various social and travel restrictions, it has been increasingly difficult to schedule and plan for in-person and face-to-face meetings. In the event of a post-election, we are of the view that it will be difficult for newly elected candidates to have a grounded mutual understanding with all parties involved and take the responsibility to serve as one of the SC members.
Since the full control over the pandemic cannot be accurately known or predicted, the Foundation would like to disclose the current situation and our intention for all stakeholders to reach a consensus of defusal. With the agreement of current SC members, the Foundation would like to formally propose the postponement of the 2nd VeChain Foundation Steering Committee Election to June 30, 2021, in which during this postponement period, the board will be chaired by current SC members as they are.
In accordance with the latest Governance Charter, the proposal has been published on the VeVote platform for all stakeholders to cast their votes.
The ballot will be open between May 8, 2020 10:00 AM to May 15 10:00 AM (UTC+8). The option which receives more weighted votes based on the voting authority model prevails will be the final decision.
Voting Authority:
Once the ballot is closed, the Foundation will announce the final results within 48 hours.
The VeVote platform can be accessed by using Sync or the discover tab of the VeChainThor mobile wallet. With the smart contract of VeVote, the entire process of voting and ballots will be recorded on the VeChainThor Blockchain. All stakeholders will be able to see all upcoming and completed voting events, and the details of each proposal.
With the release of VeVote, all stakeholders are now empowered to determine the future of the VeChainThor blockchain which signifies a milestone step towards greater decentralization of the VeChainThor blockchain.
自宣布启动第二届唯链基金会战略决策委员会选举以来，唯链基金会收到了来自世界各地、各领域的人选提名以及意向联系，并正在对目前的候选人进行审核评估等工作。与此同时，基金会负责选举事务的提名委员会亦在主动联系各类行业领袖，通过搜集头部人才与相关意向者，为唯链生态争取优质资源。
基金会就深知战略决策委员会的重要性，以及维护其有效运作、多元发展的迫切性，并且将维持委员会选举秩序视为保护生态内各方权益的首要任务之一。这同样是进行换届选举的核心目的。一经上任，第二届战略决策委员会将代表唯链生态中的所有利益相关者确保在涉及所有利益相关者的核心议题上，执行公平有效的决策。
然而新冠疫情的持续传播扩散，导致商务会谈与拜访的难度之高史无前例，严重影响了提名委员会的工作进程。基于优质候选人难以面谈、难以建立有效联系的现状，基金会认为进行第二届选举的时机尚未成熟，草率坚持原有计划是对唯链生态发展不负责任的表现。
针对疫情期间的特殊情况，基金会在经过现任战略决策委员会的同意后，特此向生态内所有利益相关者公开工作进程，并提出以下解决方案：第二届唯链战略决策委员会选举延至2021年6月30日，在此之前第一届委员会成员延续履职。
根据最新治理章程，该提案已于VeVote平台发布，供所有利益相关者投票决策。

投票起止时间：北京时间2020年5月8日早上10:00至北京时间5月15日早上10:00。
根据投票权重模型，经过加权后获得票数较多的选项将被采纳。

投票结束后，基金会将根据最新生效的治理模型中的计票规则计算票数，并在投票结束后的48小时内公布结果。
所有利益相关者可通过Sync或者唯链雷神钱包登陆VeVote平台。通过VeVote平台内置智能合约，该投票所有过程将记录于唯链雷神区块链。所有利益相关者可在VeVote平台查询到所有权益相关者的投票记录，并根据唯链基金会治理模型中的计票规则进行计算验证。101个超级权益节点将与唯链基金会运营团队一起，严格贯彻执行投票结果，并在执行完成后对社区进行公示。
VeVote平台的功能完善标志着唯链生态治理向去中心化又迈出了重要一步。基于该平台，唯链生态内的超级权益节点、经济 X 节点以及经济节点持有者将对治理拥有更多参与权，推动唯链区块链平台科学持续的长期发展。
